Dr. Lee Tessler To Be Honored By Voices Against Brain Cancer At October 19 Run/Walk

Neurosurgeon Lee Tessler, M.D., will receive the Robert Bernstein Humanitarian Award from Voices Against Brain Cancer at their Fourth Annual Run for Rob.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY, USA, September 30, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Neurosurgeon Lee Tessler, M.D., F.A.A.N.S., F.A.C.S., Executive Director and Co-Surgical Director of The Long Island Brain Tumor Center at Neurological Surgery, P.C. (NSPC) will receive the Robert Bernstein Humanitarian Award from Voices Against Brain Cancer at their Fourth Annual Run for Rob. The run/walk, which is named in memory of Dr. Robert Bernstein, will take place October 19, 2014 at Eisenhower Park (Field #2), East Meadow, NY.

Dr. Tessler is a resident of Port Washington, NY.

In addition to being honored, Dr. Tessler has donated critically needed funds to support Voices’ mission, and has enlisted the support of the Center’s physicians, staff, and patients, to help raise funds. The Center has also committed to being a major sponsor of the run/walk.

Voices Against Brain Cancer is a national not-for-profit organization that has the mission of finding a cure for brain cancer by advancing scientific research, increasing awareness in the medical community and providing support to patients and their caregivers. Among Voices’ local activities are free support groups, held in the Lake Success offices of The Long Island Brain Tumor Center at NSPC.

A board certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Tessler specializes in the treatment of primary brain tumors, metastatic tumors and meningiomas, using stereotactic surgery and radiosurgery. Dr. Tessler received his undergraduate degree cum laude from Duke University. He obtained his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Tessler served both his internship and residency in the Department of Neurological Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center, where he was named chief resident. In 2008, Dr. Tessler was appointed as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at NYU Langone Medical Center. He is currently Chief of Neurotrauma and Chairman of the Neurosurgery Quality Improvement Committee at Winthrop-University Hospital.

Dr. Tessler serves on Voices Against Brain Cancer’s Medical Advisory Board, and was recently named to the Medical Advisory Board of VirtualTrials.org. Among other honors, he is a recipient of the Community Service Award from the Aleh Foundation, which funds Israel’s largest provider of educational rehabilitative services to severely developmentally disabled children.
