1. Nish taunts another gangster

Nish (played by Navin Chowdhry) is ready for a fresh start after being released from prison.

As BBC One viewers will surely remember, Nish spent two decades behind bars for murder.

Since his release, Nish has been finding his mark in Albert Square and is keen to expand his family's empire.

In upcoming scenes, he enlists the help of Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) to assess their current businesses.

However, Nish's wife Suki (Balvinder Sopal) is irritated when she finds him bond with Eve while looking through her business contracts.

Suki shared a budding romantic connection with the former solicitor and convict.

But while Eve was ready to make their romance official, Suki decided it was best for her to stand by her husband... despite his controlling and abusive behaviour.

Upon spotting both Nish and Eve together, Suki believes she needs to remind her family that she's the one in charge.

How will they react?

While that remains to be seen, Nish provokes Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) when the possibility of a new deal comes into question.

The Panesars have often butted heads with the Mitchell family and conflicts have often been explosive or even life-threatening.

Suki is all too aware of this and warns Nish to stay away from the Mitchells - but he ignores her.

To make matters worse down the line, he even asks for his son Vinny (Shiv Jalota) to help him with a new plan.

The father-son duo go behind Suki's back and wage war on the Mitchells.

Phil is immediately enraged and storms into the Panesar, accusing Nish, but Suki quickly jumps to her husband's defence, giving him an alibi.

Unfortunately, the Minute Mart is targeted later that day and turned upside down by an unwanted intruder.

Nish and Suki are rattled and Eve steps in to clear up the mess.

Knowing her family could be in danger, Suki confronts Nish but the power-hungry villain is determined to reaffirm his position as head of the Panesar empire.

This leads to him putting his plan in action - how will it pan out?

Later on, Phil and his partner Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) arrive together for a tense lunch with Suki and Nish to discuss business.

Is the worst yet to come?

2. Linda spirals

Meanwhile, Linda Carter is trying to keep her head high, despite the pain of losing her husband Mick.

To make matter worse for her, the Vic landlady portrayed by Kellie Bright could do nothing as the last member of her large family decided to leave Albert Square altogether.

Linda has since been left all alone to grieve alongside her young children.

She was recently told that Mick's wallet had been found on the shore but there had been no sign of life from the landlord since he vanished.

To her, this meant there was no way Mick had survived at sea.

And she's about to get a strong reminder of just how lonely she feels without him.

In scenes due to air next week, many residents are slowly gearing up to celebrate love as Valentine's Day is fast approaching.

But Linda, on the other hand, is preparing to face the big day all on her own since Mick's disappearance.

How will she cope?

3. Lola makes a huge discovery

Elsewhere in the Square, Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) is due for an emotional exit as her health deteriorates after her brain tumour diagnosis.

Lola found out she was terminally ill and has decided to live life to the fullest despite her fears - and tie the knot with on-off partner Jay Brown.

Unbeknownst to her, her grandfather Billy Mitchell came up with a jaw-dropping idea for a wedding present and tracked down her long-lost mother Emma Harding.

But Emma (former Holby City star Patsy Kensit) thought it'd be best for her to keep her distance.

Emma has a change of heart and tries to help Lola and granddaughter Lexi from afar, unaware she's causing them more issues.

Coming up, Lola is called into her daughter Lexi's school after reports of an unknown adult attacking a girl called Maisie.

The latter had been picking on Lexi about Lola's ailing health and Emma slyly made sure it wouldn't happen again by privately scolding her.

Lola begins to fear for her and her family's safety and grows convinced her newfound online presence could be to blame.

As viewers of the London-based drama will remember, Lola decided to document her journey with cancer through a series of blog posts.

The young mother spirals but later on, while at the salon, her world is turned upside down as she discovers Nicole's true identity.

Her gruelling health ordeal and emotions overwhelm Lola and she agrees to get checked by a doctor at home when Billy (Perry Fenwick) and Jay (Jamie Borthwick) become concerned.

Things only get more intense as an unwelcome guest turns up on their doorstep and Lola makes a shocking discovery about her past.

4. Sonia is in danger

Sonia Fowler (portrayed by Natalie Cassidy) has a new lodger in the form of Jed (West End star Bradley Jaden) and the hunk was an instant hit among fans.

But many residents are just as fond of him - Jed sets up a community text group and his popularity increases in no time.

Unfortunately, it's clear Jed isn't as well-liked by Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman).

The mysterious newcomer has a budding connection with Sonia after initially meeting her during Dot Branning's funeral.

Jealous, Reiss is determined to front out the situation and heads to Sonia's house... but he's left reeling, shocked by what he sees.

In later scenes, Sonia tries to calm Reiss down and goes to The Vic to reassure him.

Reis struggles to rid himself of his jealousy and convinces Sonia that it's time Jed found himself a new home.

But this is easier said than done for Sonia as she then struggles to find the right moment to tell Jed he needs to leave No.25.

As mentioned above, a handful of EastEnders fans believe Sonia, Jed and Reiss will all be part of an upcoming polyamory storyline in which they'll become a throuple.

But what if writers chose to go for the traditional love triangle instead?

5. Zack is struggling

Zack Hudson (James Farrar) recently discovered he was HIV positive after being urged by an old friend to get tested.

But embarrassed by his diagnosis, he has failed to share it with Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) despite her being pregnant with his child.

Zack has managed to find support in the form of Sam Mitchell, one of the many women he's endangered during his time in Albert Square.

Sam knows the truth about Zack's ordeal and has encouraged him to take his condition seriously.

This week, Zack starts his HIV medication, awash with guilt that he hasn't shared anything with Whitney.

Although he may be afraid and even embarrassed, there's another good reason for Zack staying quiet about his diagnosis.

In recent scenes of the long-running drama, Whitney received horrific news about their baby's health.

The mother-to-be was diagnosed with Omphalocele, a birth defect of the abdominal wall meaning that the infant's intestines, liver of other organs stick outside the belly through the belly button.

Whitney is worried about losing her unborn baby, although the survival rate remains relatively high, and following words of reassurance, Zack convinces her to visit the hospital for additional testing.

While there, however, he begins to suffer side effects from his medication.

Will he be forced to come clean to Whitney?

What is certain is that Zack struggles to come to terms with recent events.

He later breaks down to his half-sister Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) who has grown increasingly worried about his well-being.

Zack is still unable to bring himself to share his HIV diagnosis with her and, instead, tells her all about Whitney's own health issues.

The gym owner gives him some wise words of advice, drawing from her own experiences as a parent.

Sharon even vows to support her brother and urges him to fight, not only for Whitney but most importantly for their baby.

Zack feels lighter after having shared some of his emotional turmoil.
