United We Roll: convoy trucking through Sudbury on Monday morning
You may see a whole new set of wheels on Sudbury's streets Monday, when the United We Roll convoy makes its way through Northern Ontario.The United We Roll convoy is spearheaded by Jason Corbeil and Glen Carritt, who organized the cross-country demonstration to protest bill C48, bill C69 and the carbon tax. In light of controversy surrounding pipeline construction, the two men wanted to ensure the voices of oil industry workers were heard. 'Sometimes I think of writing a book': Laura Cotesta's story, in her own words
“Sometimes I think of writing a book about my story … maybe when my life settles down, I will find the time.” Sudburian Laura Cotesta wrote those words on May 17, 1995, at the age of 16. Having been diagnosed with an ependymoma spinal cord tumour when she was eight years old, Laura passed away at the age of 18, on July 22 1997, shortly after high school graduation. “The Sun Will Shine,” a book chronicling Laura's life with childhood cancer in her own words, will be released Feb. 18 by StoriaBooks. Women and Girls in Science: LU looks to grow the science mentors of tomorrow
For the first time since being introduced by the UN in 2015, Sudbury celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on Feb. 11, with two interactive events at LU's Cliff Fielding Research, Innovation and Engineering building. In addition to showcasing the academic achievements of the university and its diverse staff, the day highlighted the importance of mentors, both in the evolution of the industry and the gender bias present within it. Snow removal planned for downtown next week
The city will perform snow removal in downtown Sudbury next week to widen traffic lanes and improve access to parking. Riderless snowmobile, train collide in Hanmer

Wolves not so super as Greyhounds score 10
Super powers weren't enough to keep our Wolves from defeat last night, as they welcomed the Soo Greyhounds for the fourth annual Superhero Game at the Sudbury Arena. After a heroic performance by both teams, the Hounds took home Game Five of the Bell Challenge Cup series with a 10-4 final. Final shots on goal were 43-38 in favour of the Soo. Sudbury Five drop the ball in London
The Sudbury Five suffered their second loss of a three-game road trip Saturday, at the hands of defending champs the London Lightning. Missing from the court was sharpshooter Jaylen Bland, who was placed on the injured reserve Friday following a lower body injury sustained in Wednesday's match against Windsor. The Five shot over 50 per cent from the field in fourth, but it wasn't enough to keep the team from ultimately losing the match 124-107. Clear skies for Family Day
Overnight cloudiness is expected to clear by Monday morning, leaving nothing but blue skies for Family Day. Wind chill will make the high of -13 C feel more like -27 C in the morning and -19 C in the afternoon.
