'To say it was an utter shock is an understatement': Heartbreaking moment mother-of-three with lung cancer, 43, finds out she has brain cancer just MONTHS after her first diagnosis

  • A mother-of-three from Victoria has just found out that she has brain cancer
  • It was a shock as Cassy Morris, 43, had already been diagnosed with lung cancer
  • To keep people updated Cassy wrote a blog post about her experience
  • Her lung cancer diagnosis also came as a shock as she had never smoked before

A Victorian mother who previously shared in a blog post that she had stage four lung cancer has now found out she has brain cancer too.

Cassy Morris, 43, is a mother of three girls - Kiara, Tahlia and Harper - and was only diagnosed with brain cancer on January 8 this year.

'Today, like the 19th of June 2017 (the day I was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer), is a day that will forever be etched into our memories,' she wrote in her post.

'To say this news came as an utter shock is an understatement.'

Cassy explained that it all started on January 6 when she was getting her young girls breakfast and it felt as if the room 'fell on top' of her.

From that moment on the world continued to move and although she was nauseous, scared and concerned she thought she only needed to sleep it off.

Cassy's partner, Kane, insisted that she go to the hospital but she believed she was only dealing with extreme dizziness or vertigo.

They eventually made their way to the hospital and after a variety of tests and scans it was revealed she had lots of small tumours on the brain, particularly at the back.

'[My girls] are so young, they don't deserve this. My poor dolls. I want to protect them from this. I will. They're good kids. How can this be their life? I can't let it be,' she said.

'I instantaneously felt my heart physically sink deep in my chest. I clenched Kane's hand, he immediately started crying,' she wrote

'But far out lung and brain cancer, the odds are against me. Both are the most aggressive cancers with the shortest life expectancy. I've got a tough battle beating this, but I have to. I will not go for my girls! Cancer can get stuffed,' the post continued.

The tumours over Cassy's brain are the size of salt granules and she needs to go through two weeks of intense radiation to kill the cancer and save her life.

'It's scary and I couldn't do it without Kane by my side. I'm scared too babe, I don't know what the future holds,' she wrote.

'All I know is I'm strong, stubborn, defiant and don't know what means to give up! I will fight this cancer maggot until I beat it!'

Despite all this Cassy is remaining positive and wants to encourage people to make the most out of their lives and hold their loved ones close.

'All I know for sure is that life is uncertain, so we need to make the most of everyday,' she said.

'Family is everything, hold you loved one tighter each night because who knows what's around the corner.

Previously Cassy shared with FEMAIL her moving diary entries when she first found out that she had lung cancer.

She was diagnosed with stage four cancer, which was a shock to her and her family as she had never smoked in her life.

After suffering back pain she went for tests which revealed a 2.3cm nodule on her left lung.

'It is a conversation no parent should ever have to have with their young kiddies. I told them that I'm ok and that I'm strong and I'm not going anywhere,' she wrote

She was told that they were dealing with an aggressive cancer, which wasn't the news her and her partner were expecting.

'Suddenly the severity of the whole thing began to hit home, Kane was inconsolable, the thought of this being cancer was scary, but it seemed more of a possibility now. It was a tough drive home,' she shared in her original diary entry.

'I was still trying to remain positive and hopeful that maybe what they found in my lymph nodes was unrelated to the possible benign nodules in my lungs, but I had the sinking feeling it was more than that.'

The next day they confirmed the daunting information: it was lung cancer and already in her spine.

'I instantaneously felt my heart physically sink deep in my chest. I clenched Kane's hand, he immediately started crying,' Cassy said.

'I was stunned and silent, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My first reaction was NO this is not going to be the end of me. I've got three young daughters who need me, they need me for a long time,' she said.

'I need to be here for them, I'm not going anywhere. I want to see them grow, I want to see Harper start school, I want to see them finish school, I want to see them get married and have their own kids. I need to be here! '

'Need to be here for them, I'm not going anywhere. I want to see them grow, I want to see Harper start school,' said Cassy about her children

After this rollercoaster of emotion, Cassy and her partner also had to tell their children the news.

'It is a conversation no parent should ever have to have with their young kiddies. I told them that I'm ok and that I'm strong and I'm not going anywhere,' she said.

'Kiara asked if I was going to die soon? And would I be here when they were older?

'My heart sank, I had to hold it together because honestly, I don't know how long I have, but I needed to reassure them that I would be here for a long time.'
