Event of the Year: Art Van's 50th Anniversary Gala

September 23, 2009

DETROIT, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Art Van Furniture will celebrate its 50th Anniversary with a major gala event, Thursday, Oct. 1 at its Warren showroom. From celebrities, to iL CiRCo, to food catered by Andiamo Restaurant Group, guests can look forward to a one-of-a-kind evening.

The entire Art Van showroom will be transformed into a spectacular entertainment venue with unparalleled ambience and vignette presentations by iL CiRCo (www.ilcirco.com), a cirque performance group.

A fantastic strolling dinner will be catered by Andiamo. Additional entertainment will be presented by the Simone Vitale band. And one lucky attendee will win the Art Van Golden Ticket for a $2,500 shopping spree which will be placed in a box of Sanders' chocolate.

Celebrities such as model Cindy Crawford will be attending. There will be a 30-minute live telecast on WXYZ-TV (Ch. 7). Anchor Diana Lewis will be the mistress of ceremonies.

Through the generosity of Van Elslander and Art Van Furniture, 100 percent of the ticket sales and sponsorships will directly benefit the Hermelin Brain Tumor Center and the Neuroscience Institute at Henry Ford Health System.

Funds raised will help Henry Ford physicians and researchers develop and execute leading-edge treatments for all neurological diseases, such as brain tumors, stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, spine disorders and trauma to the brain and spinal cord.

The honoree will be Doreen Hermelin, a long time supporter of the Center and widow of David Hermelin.

Honorary co-chairs are Gail and Mark Kelley, M.D., of Bloomfield Hills, Pam and Mark Rosenblum, M.D., of West Bloomfield, and Nancy Schlichting of Bloomfield Township. Event co-chairs are Zelly and Tom Mikkelsen, M.D., of West Bloomfield and Rosalie and Joe Vicari of Clinton Township.

The event begins at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1 at Art Van Furniture, 6500 E. 14 Mile Road, Warren.
